Free EXIF Metadata Viewer & Remover

See exactly what your photo reveals, then strip it in one click. No signup, no upload, done entirely on your device.

What this does: reads the hidden EXIF, IPTC, and XMP metadata inside a photo, including camera details and GPS location, then can strip all of it in one click, entirely inside your browser. It's free, needs no signup, and never uploads your photo to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Is this metadata tool free, and does my photo get uploaded to a server?

Yes, it's completely free with no signup. Metadata is read and removed entirely inside your browser tab; your photo is never sent to a server.

What metadata does this tool show and remove?

It reads EXIF, IPTC, and XMP metadata, including camera make and model, the timestamp the photo was taken, exposure settings, and precise GPS coordinates when present. Clicking the remove button re-encodes the image through a canvas, which naturally drops every one of those metadata segments.

Why did my iPhone photo fail to load?

Some browsers cannot decode HEIC files, the format newer iPhones use by default. If loading fails, convert the photo to JPG first with this site's HEIC to JPG Converter tool, then upload the converted file here.
