Frequently asked questions

How is a candidate's weighted total score calculated?

Each competency has a weight percentage and each candidate gets a 1-5 score per competency. The weighted total is the sum of (score x weight) across all competencies, divided by the sum of the weights, which produces a single number on the same 1-5 scale. For example, weights of 50/30/20 with scores of 4/5/3 give (4x50 + 5x30 + 3x20) / 100 = 4.10.

What happens if my competency weights do not add up to 100%?

The tool shows a warning and still calculates a normalized 1-5 weighted average using the weights you have entered, so rankings stay comparable. For a standard, presentation-ready scorecard, adjust the weights so they sum to exactly 100%.

Does this tool store or share the candidate scores I enter?

No. Everything you type is kept only in your own browser's local storage on your device so your work in progress isn't lost on refresh. Nothing is uploaded to a server, and Print Scorecard sends the page straight to your local print dialog.
