Frequently asked questions

Does this tool support old .doc files, or only .docx?

Only modern .docx files (the Word format based on Office Open XML) are supported. Legacy .doc files use an older binary format that this browser-based tool cannot parse. Open the file in Word and use Save As to convert it to .docx first.

Will the PDF look pixel-identical to the original Word document?

It will be close, not pixel-identical. The conversion approximates layout: pagination, headers, footers, footnotes, and complex tables or columns may render slightly differently than in Word. Simple text documents usually come out very close.

Is my Word document uploaded to a server?

No. The .docx file is read and converted entirely in your browser using the mammoth.js and html2pdf.js libraries. Nothing is transmitted anywhere, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
